However, it is recommended that patients have endoscopy every five to ten years after finding intestinal metaplasia.

So anyone who has many family members with gastric cancer should be examined for Helicobacter pylori infection and several endoscopy screening in this situation. Stomach cancer can spread to family members, because family members are genetically susceptible to the disease or because family members have been infected with Helicobacter pylori each other. So if you have family with cancer, get used to this early detection of stomach cancer.
